Bath therapy reduces stress

Relax, stress relief

I’m sure you already know that taking a warm bath before going to bed helps you sleep better.

But what does the research say about this?

In 2015, a group of researchers wanted to investigate the effects of an ancient therapy called “balneotherapy” on distress.

“Balneotherapy (Latin balneum, bath) has been defined as the use of natural mineral waters, natural peloids and mud, and natural sources of different gases (CO2, H2S, and Rn) for medical purposes such as prevention, treatment, and rehabilitation.”

What these researchers discovered was that balneotherapy therapy affects cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, endocrine, autonomic nervous, and other systems and brings positive results for public health.

This ‘bath’ therapy was found to reduce… anxiety, depression and pain to name just a few benefits. One way that ‘bath’ therapy does this is by stimulating the production of serotonin, your feel-good hormone.

Although we do not have access to geothermal mineral waters on a daily basis, the next best thing to do is to soak in a warm bath with magnesium salts and two drops of lavender oil.

This is a wonderful way to relax your hyperactive child/children, which will help them go to sleep.

It's also a wonderful way for adults to relax and unwind after a busy day!
