Have you heard the saying... "Count your blessings?"
Did you know that counting your blessings is good for your emotional health?
Scientists have recently become interested in gratitude and its potential ramifications on human health and well-being. Research findings have demonstrated that practising gratitude produces benefits in the areas of emotional well-being and positive emotions.
In 2003, two researchers investigated the act of counting blessings in experimental studies.
What they found was that those who were in the group who were asked to consciously focus on gratitude, demonstrated reductions in negative affects and increased in optimistic appraisals, and positive affects.
Furthermore, they experienced more emotional support, better sleep quality, and improved well-being.
