Before school exercise is great for children with ADHD!

Exercise, fit brain, calm brain

May 9, 2017

I’m back to share some more information about the benefits of exercise.

A study was conducted in 2013, looking at before-school physical activity programs for young children with hyperactivity and impulsivity symptoms.

The children who were in grades K-3 (i.e. 5-8 year old), completed about 30 minutes of continuous moderate-to-vigorous physical activity every day for eight weeks at school, before classes commenced.

The activities included: moving objects to different locations in the activity area of the school, various forms of physical activity; skipping, running, hopping, crab walking.

According to the parents and teachers, most children (64-71%) showed improvements.

The authors concluded that physical activity shows promise for children with ADHD.
